It applies to my wife's '00 Expedition, so I have to get that taken care of.

Brian, thanks for the info. I haven't bothered to really look at the switch in question. Is it _that_ obvious (like, there's only one I could see?)? If not, could someone take a pic and post it?

I read that they do not have a "fix" out for it, that they will just disconnect it. I figured it was some hard-to-reach thing under the dash.

    Thx.

Ok, you're saying its immediately in front of the master cylinder. The one I see there (its in front of the brake fluid resevoir) is certainly an ABS sensor/connector.

The one I traced to the throttle linkage is in front of the underhood fuse box. I assume this is the one b/c the CC circuit has to get some sort of feedback from the throttle.

Just wanting clarification before I go unplugging stuff.

I saw a clip last night and they showed that sensor getting hot enough to melt the brake fluid reservoir and then catch the brake fluid on fire.

Again, this is why I need clarification on which sensor it is. The one right in front of the brake fluid reservoir? Those lines coming out of it look like ABS lines to me.

Yes, brake fluid on fire is not a good thing.

    ...more egg on Ford's face.

    Wes,
I do not know for sure.
There is what looks like a pressure sensor on the front of the master cylinder. My thought is that when there is pressure in the master it cuts the cruise. So it is the hot side of the cruise(+), always hot unless there is pressure in the master, then open. I have wiring diagrams and voltmeter at home and will check tonight. Anyone is welcome to post a picture, as I have proven again that I still can't.

Ok, just so no one asks the same question I did...

The sensor on the front of the master cylinder is a brake pressure sensor switch. The plug that connects into it _is_ for the cruise control.

This is the one that needs to be removed. It sounded silly to me, but that's what I can tell from my shop manual.

It is the plug directly in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Don't have time to take a pic now, but I can take one and post it later, on the condition that nobody gives me grief about how dirty my engine compartment is.

    The plug -

    The fix -

The female end has been taped up and zip tied out of the way.

    Yep. That's all I did.

Now I know my wife and kids will be safe. Thanks Ford.

Ford seems to have had several wiring issues which create fire hazards. I know the Fox-bodied Mustangs had an ignition switch recall for the same type of deal.

Every manufacturer has issues... those that can cause accidental death are not the ones you want to have.

If you dont mind we should share this with the rest of the F150 world - It will save a lot of people a lot of trips to the dealer. Assuming they can confirm they are affected

I called and verified that I'm on the recall. I told the service writer that I would like to do the disconnect myself. He told me that's ok, just tape the plug up good and tie it up out of the way.

    Thanks Moonshine,

Also can all the 99 and 01 people post the color of the plastic on the sensor?
Mine is orange too. Are the other years a different color?
