Apparently, I have lost the GO RILA plate monicker to the system. Not only can I not get six letters and a space any more, but a single year based on six total spaces will be $195/year; $495/five years; or $595/ ten years.

The website says the price is less than $60 year. What they don't tell you is that you have to buy the plate for 10 years at a price of $595 for it to cost less than $60/year.

Can you still go through TXDOT? This looks like a 3rd party company that's trying to jazz it up and charge more.

Only option for vanity plates in Texas now according to the Denton County Tax office. They wouldn't renew my GO RILA plates.

If you go the 10 years, are the plates transferable to another vehicle? I went to get my new plates for my truck and wanted the new plate and she said I could not have them on a truck. BS, I saw every old POS truck on the road with the new plates. Stupid A**. I guess they just wanted to get rid of the old ones first but should have been my choice. She also said you could only have 6 letters on a personell plate so does anyone know if they will change that in the future?

I went the rounds with them as well. Apparently this is the only option, but they did tell me that if you already have personalized plates that you are supposed to be grandfathered in as long as they don't expire on you. I guess we'll see in June when both of mine are up.

Damn that is BS there, not sure how it works here in Kansas yet. But soon I will be looking into it for my project Truck.

I renewed my truck in January just before I sold it and the lady at the reg office said something similar to the grandfathered thing to me. She said as long as I never let it expire that I could renew every year just as I have been and that the new pricing didn't matter. But now my trucks gone, so I have my LEAVN-U til next january. Then it'll be leaving me.....I don't need it anymore, my cars not fast enough.

You could always rent-out the plate for those of us that may be too scared to dump their SO's in person. Just leave it on the pillow as your walking out the door. She should get the message..
