His radar seemed to be a little low. I was tooling along minding my own business when highway patrol pulls me over. 73 in a 65 is what I get dinged for. Looks like I took this one for the team. Dammit...what a crappy way to end a good day...
Tom
Where did that happen at?
I had a blast today! Lots of fun hangin out with you guys and getting a new PB was just an added bonus.
Someone please post the pic of Uncle Rocks on the 50.:rll:
That sucks!!!!!! big time. Sorry to hear it. I ran 73/74 all the way back, got close to D and ran into a stretch of 10 miles where there were 5 cops with ppl pulled over.
BAD COPS----Speed Traps suck!!!!!!!
I too had another great time with you TALON guys!
I hate that the track left lane sucked soo bad at the end!!! That hurt a bunch of normally really consistent guys (Ron, Adam, and Mark). I only had to run one real race and got my ass handed to me but at least it was a TALON guy (TrueBlueAggie) and someone who had been trying a long time to get his big win!
Congrats Micheal!!!
Now I just gotta get my truck dyno tuned so Terry :bows can squeeze that last couple of tenths out of it for me and get into the low 12's.
Tommy
It was fun being at the track with everyone.............knana . Hopefully everyone made it home without any problems.
73 in a 65?????????????????? I would have ended up getting shot by that cop:mad: .
IMHO....that is about the most cheese dick ticket I have heard of. Everyone knows 65 is just the suggested speed..........75 is recommended. What happened to the 10 mph courtesy???
Rocks:beer:
rocks, did you buy that pic of you on the scooter they had up at the booth? that was classic!!!
You caused me to look at my slips. All my wins happened to be in the right lane:rolleyes: . My loss was in the left lane........that just sucks.Quote:

Rocks:bs
Good times:beer: hanging out and racing.
Congrats Micheal on winning the bracket class:tu:
We counted 4 troopers within a 2 mile stretch on I20 just east of 80:bs
No....I don't like pics of myself...LOL. My heart tells me I am 21....pictures remind me I'm not ;) .Quote:

That makes two of your trophies I have now. You may actually become a legend:D .
Rocks:beer:
whats wrong with Ennis? its alot closer...... well at least to me it is
Tommy, I'm just glad that we did not spin in the Final Round. I have a mpeg file of the final, but I cannot post it because of size. (19,000 KB).
Talon took all the bracket racing trophies! There were only Talon members in the last 5 racers (Mark #2, SonicBlueTommy, Rocks, Stormshadow, and me) :tu: That was the best part of the day. Dennis, how many did we have show up to the race today???
Scott, once again.....you did a kick ass job on the trophies. I had the chance to check it out when I got to the house, and it is just too cool.
And thanks to Terry for giving my wife cash to buy lunch for herself. I'm sure that $5 will be added to my next labor bill at Christmas time.....:tu:
followed VERY closely by that TA that defied gravity and pulled a few "1 oclock" wheeliesQuote:
That was the best part of the day.
Are we talking about the Pontiac TA, or the starting line operator "TA"? :d
Yep. Great to meet up with you guys today. Guess I missed some excitement on the way home? I got mine going out there, though. Fortunately the ossifer let me off with just a warning.
I did see a few cops on the way home, but I guess since I left early I got lucky. Was typically running near 80 all the way.
Oh yeah... I guess one of the most exciting thing for me today was a front view of that car that flipped over the guardrail. Fortunately, I wasn't hot-shoeing it down the return road. I was ~300' from him. I saw him come over the wall...just nailed the brakes. It was eerie b/c it appeared like it was in slow-motion, but I had no idea how far he would come barrel-rolling towards me. Impossible to get any kind of perception of the speed.
What's ridiculous is that it was a high-11 second car. Give me a break. No way that thing should be _that_ out of control if it had been sorted out at all. Then to hear the guy talking like it was "loose all day". Fortunately, he's ok. The roll cage saved him.
By the way...........I want to give a special tahnks to the Folks from LA, Arkansas and Houston, who made the very long trip to help us make the Talon Fall Classic a success. It was great to see you folks again.
I hope to see some of you when FFW fires up again. LA is going to seem like a run down the street compared to the drive to Jersey and New Hamshire. Welcome to the schedule:beer:
Rocks:bows
Ha! Terry may have already gotten his payment while you were racing.....j/k, but he is like a blood hound with a nose for that.Quote:

The car went straight every time I saw it go down the track. Impressive.

I want to know what the hell is going on here!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are all out there slipping around like crazy people, and this guy obviously has gotten the darned track to bite...............
WHAT THE HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to do that kind of launch.................:bows :bows :bows :bows
Notice what lane he is in.:hammer:Quote:

But I think it was because I was the 4th person down the track this morning...
Typically traction is not much of a problem for the LOWER H.P. vehicles....:eek:Quote:

Personally, I don't go there anymore except as a spectator for the O'Reilly Fall Nationals every year.
140 pictures in the gallery now - every 10 seconds you should see 10 more.. at least for a while ...
Hmm, we ran 70-80 all the way back to DFW/Frisco and didn't see any coppers - but we left at like 4:30ish.
Thanks to Andy/Ssandman and his call on the way-in this morning. :d I would've been up sheist-creek explaining almost 2x the posted speed-limit to DPS/Laney trying to play catch-up to the convoy. knana
Doug: I'm glad you got a camera back. You take some of the best pics.
I had a great time. I cruised home at 85ish w/o a problem and touched 115 because I just had to stretch my legs.

It was nice seeing everyone and watching some great TALON racing. :tu: I think Lee counted about 36 or so Lightnings, total!
Now that I have slept and cooled down a but over the 8MPH-over speed limit ticket, I can say that I had an absolute blast down there with you guys. I wish I could have put a few more faces with screen names, but I did catch a few. Thanks to Tommy's peer pressure that I succumed to I was able to get a few more passes in.
I would also like to express my appreciation for all of the out of towners that made the trip out. Those geys had to travel quite a ways to participate in out event, and it is always good to meet up with other owners.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to next year!
Tom
I had a blast! Ran my first 1/4mile and got a cool as pic of my truck launching......
Also i left the track about 5 and did about 90 the whole way home.... did see some troopers but they were driving on the highway in front of me.... Id just slow down and wait for them to pull off onto the shoulder...
I will say with the 3 hours of sleep i had im surprised i lasted all day and on the trip home.....
I would to greatly thank my all-volunteer pit crew yesterday: Sixpipes, Doug, and Tliss. Managed to run a new PB at 11.655. Once again this event was a complete success, many thanks to Sixpipes and Doug for organizing and running.
I agree that the track prep in the left lane was horrible, that's the only reason Rocks beat me:tongue:
That had to be the most jacked up round I was ever involved in  .... I can safely say, I have never won a round where I spun out of the hole for the first 60 ft, finished 1 second off my dial, and still managed to out drive the guy in the lane next to me......:rll: .Quote:

I enjoyed meeting a few of you and putting faces with names. I met a lot of nice guys and the trip down and back was thankfully uneventful.
Mike...check that slip again....LOL....you are one lucky little racer. Had I not red lighted.....You would be singing a whole different tune right now...LOL.
Oh...I don't remember spending the whole day talking about FFW...or winning...LOL. But you just filled me in on what you where talking about when I was not standing there....LOL. I didn't realize I was so intimidating to you...;) .
I am flattered.....want my autograph????

What everyone doesn't see in this picture, is me creeping up from behind her. Doug must have edited that out....:rll:Quote:
