    Bondo and powder coat

Does anyone know if something can be powder coated if it's already been bondo'd? I was told by someone that you can't cause it gets too hot for the bondo. But we still weren't sure. My tube bumper has a coulpe of dents that I'd like to bondo but I also want my bumper powder coated.

Nope. Bondo and powdercoating do not go together at all.

But you may be able to find paint that matches the powder coating. Don't know if you saw my DA story about shooting a hole through the front rack on my ATV, but when I was repairing it I used Bondo, and then took the rack to a paint shop, and they were able to mix a paint that mathed the powdercoating on the rack almost perfectly.

Well, It's not currently powdercoated. I only want to powdercoat it to withstand rock chips and such.

In order to powdercoat, it's gotta be metallic in nature so it'll carry a charge to attract the powder. Also, it has to be baked.

Thanks for the info guys. Moonshine, I misunderstood your post but it makes sense now. Powdercoat with the dents, then get them filled and painted to match. Got it.

Put some metal filings in the Bondo. Body shops do it to pass the magnet test

Who does powder coating here in DFW? I'm considering doing the wheels powder-coated black. Curious to see how much it'd run.
