Looking for a decent Ford mechanic for something I don't want to do...

Hey guys, this is non-lightning related. I got an '08 Ford Edge Limited FWD with 106k on it. Great car and have had it a while now. Just got it inspected so all is good for a year but... two days after the inspection the CEL came on and I got two codes:

    - P0422, (evaporative emission system) small leak/no flow condition, could be my fault since I changed plugs a week ago and it requires removal of intake manifold... it's possible I left a hose off or not on fully.

    - P0722, output speed sensor no signal condition. The last one is a bit of a pain. Requires pulling transmission (trans-axle) pan to access the OSS (output speed sensor) and I don't have much more than a garage floor to work off of.

To complicate things, this is a hit and miss problem meaning, it could be the OSS or it could be the TSS (transmission speed sensor). I have read too many posts where Ford has replaced the OSS only to have the problem remain and have to pull it apart again.

Logic says to replace both seeing how the part cost is nominal compared to the labor.

Symptoms... speedo goes away and odometer shows a funky code. You get a wrench icon as a warning light indicating power-train fault detected. First gear slips badly with little or no acceleration.

Many who have had this give up and call a wrecker but it has happened three times over the last couple years and I turn the car off for a few minutes, start the car, put it in reverse (a rather loud engagement occurs as if you dumped it into gear with to many revs), keeping brake on go into drive (again loud jerky engagement) back to reverse and drive, shut it off, start it up and drive of as if nothing happened.

No trouble in driving it now and this is the first time it has thrown codes and the above symptoms, never occurred.

There are TSB's and I have them... stories of Ford dealers botching it up worse are abound. So I need someone where knows his chit!

    Suggestions?

OBTW... I still take my Lightning to Cars and Coffee nearly every month... don't see many out there. Staying to the end and seeing the action is cool but I get there no later than 7am, spend about an hour there and head out... it has gotten ridiculous in terms of people.

I even had some dude get it my face telling me his English Bull dog can kick my dogs butt. Okayyyyyy. Jerks are everywhere.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Up in Frisco... this doesn't have to be a Ford mechanic as much as someone who works and knows Ford products.

You're still in North Dallas around Walnut and Marsh, right?

Yes, same place. I trust a guy in Ennis, so it would be a bit of a haul.

Nope, CK Customs on Kaufman. Cal is the owner, he knows his stuff and works on standard stuff and creates custom off road rigs.

Thanks... going to try and find someone closer but may give CK Customs a call. Won't hurt.

Car runs fine and seeing how I just got it inspected, I have time to find someone to do it right.

Just something in my nature that makes me cringe with a check engine light on. Like having a zit that no one can see but you think the world can. Maybe I will put a piece of tape over the light. Dang, that sounds almost political and reflective of our current administration (can't believe I said that).
