Me too, but it's getting closer. I saw $2.39 a gallon this AM. Down $1 a gallon in the past 2 1/2 months.

I managed to find it for 2.55 a gallon Saturday, before heading to Austin. I was actually feeling like they where doing me a favor:rolleyes: . Guess I am getting trained by the oil companies...:cool:

Noticing a few odd things;

I bought fuel on my way out of town Sunday AM, paid $2.39. Tried to get good economy on the way to the deer lease, but I was bucking a head wind the whole way, so the trip computer (reset at fill up) was showing 15.8 MPG, and most of the way I was getting about 800 EGT. Coming back they had diesel in Bowie for $2.34, so I decided to go on and top off. Calculated actual mileage for the 183 miles since I'd filled up in Ft. Worth was 16.57 MPG. Not bad, particularly with the head wind, but that's the first time actual mileage has been better than what the trip computer showed.

Anyway, fill up again in Bowie, and reset the trip computer. enjoy the tail wind all the way home, so that by the time I get to the house (103 miles) the trip computer is showing 19.2 MPG. knana

Then this AM, start up to come to work, and before I can make it to the end of the driveway the trip computer is already down to 18.9 MPG, and during the drive to work (no wind), and running a couple of errands around town at lunch I'm down to 18.0 now. I just don't understand how that thing can show a cumulative mileage of 19.2 after over 100 miles, and then withing the next 35 miles it can drop by over 1 MPG with no real change in driving style.

I got 93 octane in Waco yesterday for $2.10. Thats more than $1.00 less than we were paying September 15. Go figure.

The thing is you are assuming its averaging over the tank ful - its apparently not ... Wonder what the manual says about the MPG average ... I bet its over the past 10 miles or since last key off cycle

The manual isn't terribly specific, but it insinuates that it's averaging since the last time it was reset.

Yep...that is what it does.

It sounds straight forward to me. You spend a few hours on the highway getting good mpg, then you go to city driving down in the 14's it will suck the average down pretty quickly. I let it run over a long term so it doesn't shift so rapidly.

If thats the case then why did the avg tank so quick while he was driving down the driveway ?

Beats me...but it gives the average since the last reset. Been There.....Done That...:) .

Filled up tonight after 589 miles on this tank of fuel. Trip computer was showing 16.7 MPG average for the tank. actual mileage was 15.98 MPG. Not great, but not awful.

The good news is that at $2.35 a gallon fuel cost for this tank was just 17 cents per mile, and that's liveable.

I filled up with 42.5 gallons Wednesday night for only $100 bucks:banana: :rolleyes: . About 14.5mpg over the tank and hauling a skid steer a hundred miles. I did a lot of remote start warm ups and idle time that tank though.

That's not bad at all. I had to unload my truck a couple weeks ago to move some furniture. After cruising around for a few weeks without 1500 lbs of stuff in the truck bed, my milage went up at least 2-3mpg. I am getting about 15mpg around town now.
