I got caught once by an email like this a couple of years ago. It was before I had ever heard of these. The email told me that my credit card had expired and I needed to update it. As luck would have it my card HAD just expired so I clicked the link and updated all the info and clicked submit. It told me that that credit card was not valid and to try another. So like an idiot I tried another. It didn't work either so I gave up. A couple of weeks later I got a phone call from Western Union. Somebody had been wiring money using my credit card. Then I found that a bunch of online services had been billed to my other account. Luckily I was able to contest them and didn't have to pay for it.
