I am working on tweaking my diesel tunes a little more to net more fuel economy. I will also switch my truck to 3.0 tuning software. My current advantage tune has me at a consistent 16.7mpg unloaded. I am hoping for 18mph hwy with these new adjustments.

Economy starts with exhaust on a diesel. There is about 1mpg in the exhaust and 1-2mpg in the tune. These things have a bog nasty converter on them that chokes turbo spool and stops up with soot:hammer: . Still got your blinders too, plus finance charges from floating the bill for 4 months;) .

OK, I finally got past the first 10K miles, which is reported to be the break in period for a diesel.

Made two trips to the deer lease this weekend, one of those with the ATV in the back of the truck.

The Transfer Flow throws off the DTE computer, as it doesn't read the greater capacity.

The exciting part was seeing the mileage computer reading this high for this long a period of time.

And then the moment of truth. Time to fill up and see what sort of mileage I really got.

Calculates to a true mileage of 16.9 MPG, more than 1 MPG better than my previous best. And rather than the 85 miles the DTE was showing, I really could have gone another 187 miles, making this a theoretical 776 mile tank of fuel. :tu:

That is great considering all the wind we had this weekend.:tu:
