Over a year ago, I picked up a wrecked 93 in San Antonio.

Check it out as of 10 PM tonight...

http://www.svtgalleries.net/gallery/data/500/medium/engine4.JPG

I'm using Flats Man's 94 shortblock and Edelbrock Performer heads and an SD cam with stock 19# injectors. Also ceramic coated the lower intake and Ford Motorsport shorty headers for a little added bling. I like the look of the aluminum valve covers. Kind of old school looking, heh?

Okay, cool, but why not paint the block lime green to match the other parts?

Sixpipes
09-04-2005, 11:12 PM
Well, high-temp paint is hard to find in lime green, so I'm going with Ford blue in the engine compartment. Besides, you won't be able to see the suspension from the top when the fenders go on. It will take several more months of weekend work to finish the engine compartment. Hope to get it ready for paint by January.

The truck will belong to my neighbor/friend when we are done with it. It is an SD truck so it has a mild cam and will have a small blower, probably low 14 second truck.

Wiring harness pretty much completed today along with throttle body and vacuum system. Just need to hang the blower, air conditioning compressor, alternator and a few other items including trans cooler and radiator. Our target start up date is April 30. Then we drive it to the body shop the first or second week in May. Similar paint scheme to Tobbun's truck with black on top and candy green on the bottom.

We were hoping to get it cranked up this week, but due to my father's passing, we weren't able to quite get to that point. An updated picture with blower and radiator/tranny cooler/air conditioning condensor installed.

Well, we haven't made a whole lot of progress in the last couple of weeks. We are finishing the wiring for the auxilary fuel pump and the electric fan. We purchased a new radiator and hope to have everything completed next weekend so we can start working on the body parts. I am picking up a new driver-side door tomorrow and should be getting the new smooth front bumper this week. I set the timing at 12 degrees, but will probably bump it up a bit after everything else is finished.

single stage or two stage with clear coat?

L8 APEX
07-29-2006, 09:43 PM
Two stage is a lot easier and better than single. Only the econo joints shoot single anymore Earl Sheib, Macco etc.. With two stage the base dries quickly and is easy and fast to work and re touch.

Yeah, but single is easier to polish, compound, and rework in the long run. IMHO. Glad the K5 has single stage, has been easy for me on touch up repaints over the years as the mid 80s GM paint was such high quality.

I stopped by the shop today and the guy that is painting the truck says the color is crazy in the sun. Ronny will be back in town on Friday to pick it up and we should have a few glamour shots by Saturday. Green was Jordan's favorite color so Ronny picked out the actual color and the signature was how he signed his artwork (sample below).

We liked the two-tone scheme on Tobbun's truck so it is similar, but different. Those two trucks sitting next to each other will be interesting looking.

What would be really KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!! is to decide to drive Pop Eye to Lightning Fest with the other Gen 1's that will be escorting Jordan 7 up there. So far I think it will be Sixpipes Black 95, Ronnie's 93, Tobbun's 94, Hopefully your 93. If you can do it, I will drive to Texas instead of going direct to Kansas City. That would be 5 Gen 1's and there is another couple in Talon. Think about it!
