Guys

After 7 years at i2 I am being laid off.

Im relieved and excited about the future.

I am looking to find a part time job with benefits over the short term. My plan is to try to build my consulting business and see where it takes me. But I would prefer to have the structure of a regular 20-30 hour a week gig that provides benefits. If you guys know of any oportunities let me know

Doug

Sorry to hear, Doug.

What to you have in mind for a part-time gig? You might check-out www.itmoonlighter.com (http://www.itmoonlighter.com). Another is www.wantedjobs.com (http://www.wantedjobs.com) .

I've got a ton of IT recruiter contacts in DFW and all over the US if your interested.

These kind of things usually turn out better in the long run.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open and let you know if I hear of anything.

I might have something...not very glamourous tho (definitely nothing that will use even an inkling of your skill set). Need to check if it has benefits or not. Lemme know if you want more info

Doug,
I am sorry to hear it but I understand how it is when your job situation is unstable. I went through it too and was glad when it was over. Just keep looking ahead.
I would look for you but I doubt that you would want to move back home :evil

Well, you saved yourself for a couple years from the previous down sizing, there at I2. Guess it was inevitable at some point.
The whole TALON CLUB is there to help!!!
Considering what you have done for us for so long ............ http://www.talonclub.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Checked into that temp job a little more. Pretty boring stuff, but it would be income. No benefits at all, other than the paycheck. Again, let me know if you'd like info.

Im officially still employed till 5/15 - At that point I plan to do as much contract or part time work as possible, If the work is at least interesting and the pay not too insulting I will consider it

Damn, sorry to hear it man... things are not good for IT guys (hell, for ANYONE technical, it seems). I saw in this past Sunday's paper quite a few IT openings, hope you saw them as well.

Good luck. :tu:
