I'm looking for a Mustang to replace the one I had to sell. I would really like a 5.0 5 speed hatch but I'm open to autos or coupes. I don't want to spend over 5G because this will be a daily beater and something else to beat up on at the track.

What all do you know about this car Jeff?

Alpine

I sent the guy a PM asking for his number.

92 black coupe with grey interior, 5 speed

Off-roads w/flowmasters.
Subframe connectors
Gears (not sure which ones)
Car has been been lowered.
Short throw shifter.
New clutch
New flywheel.
New balancer
New tires on stock pony rims.

He said it has a slight vibration right at 3k and said it was probably the u-joints, or drive shaft. Other than that, he said it runs great.

I had a hatch myself that had a 347 stroker in it with all the goodies, and ran low 11's on the motor, on pump gas. If I had it to do over again, I'd go with a coupe. They're more rigid, and lighter. Plus they look mean as hell with some phat wheels/tires out back.:tu:

Anyway, you're first in line, and the chances of me actually talking the wife into this are about as good as me sprouting wings, having a jet engine grow out of my ass and flying to Europe!

90 GT, auto, new paint (1 month old; base/clear. Good materials), new carpet, 97K actual mile car. New front brakes, new front wheel bearings, new battery, etc. Totally rust free. Reliable little car. Not a show car, but not too bad either. Asking $4500.00 but, hey, if you got cash, price is negotiable! :tu:
Drop me a line if interested, and I will send along some pics.

Adam,....Steve-O,
You may be able to get it a tad bit lower but it may be priced higher to cover for people trying to talk the price down. Also take into consideration the car is a coupe. There was an article in Mustang Mustang or 5.0 Mustang a couple years ago that was showing price ranges. Coupes was a tad higher because they are harder to find, they have good clean lines, they are lighter and don't have the rattles sometime associated with hatchbacks.I wish you and I could hook up and have my crew chief take a look see @ what you find. He can also run reports on it and give you more of a common sense vs. blue book value. Also whats been done to it? Mods can hurt sometimes. You want a stock one, highly modified, somewhere in between? I know I would not sell my car for what no blue book says its worth.

My ideal car would be as close to stock as possible, black interior, 5 speed, hatch or coupe ( I'm leaning toward coupe but they are hard to find) black, silver, grey , or dark blue paint. 91-92 year model under 5G.

I managed to get to the house and take some pics of my 90 GT, and tried to send em to you at the SBCglobal address, but they bounced. Undeliverable.
Can you email me?
I just tried to send em again, so we will see what happens though.

Does anyone know what rebuilt title means? Could it be from theft? Here is the ad in question. This is a really nice car from the pictures I've seen and it will match my truck perfectly.

It is a 1992 LX 5.0, dark titanium gray with gray and black interior.. 68k miles and runs very good. This was an AOD car but a previous owner converted it to 5-speed. Extremely clean and all original body and paint. Car does have a rebuilt title due to a theft, but there is zero damage to the car. I can only see that the radio and front passenger and rear lower seat were stolen. The original paint is dang near perfect. Moldings are exceptional. The 4 wheel disc brakes and 5 lug conversion are done, it just needs a new master cylinder and an adjustable prop. valve installed. I have a 1993 Cobra master cylinder on the way to resolved the mushy brakes.

Adam ,
You are correct,as long as it does not say salvage. Thats a rebuilt total. If this car haven't been in a wreck I think you have found your car. Looks good in the pic. Plus 5 lug & disc brake conversion. :tu: I say go for it if you likey and you happy with all involved(price, condition of car,eng,trans.... :D

This car is very appealing but the only thing holding me back is that it doesn't have a clear title. I've always been told not to buy anything without a clear title. I don't really know what rebuilt title means but here is what I found on the internet on an auto auction site. Can anyone dispute this or does anyone know for sure what a rebuilt title is? The guy says that it has never been wrecked before and that it was just a theft. My dad's car was stolen and they didn't change the title on it to my knowledge.

Red Light - Usually means there are issues with the title, rebuilt, not actual mileage, or some other problem. This is important, because you would not expect to pay as much for that car as one which had not been in a wreck. At wholesale auctions as the cars come up to the block, the ones with bad titles trigger the red title warning light to come on over the auction box. At this point, usually 50% of the bidders take off. The remaining 50% don't know what the heck to do, and the price ends up dropping usually 30%. The reason is a rebuilt car is just bad news. It's one thing to have a quarter panel replaced or door dent removed, but a rebuilt title means something very bad happened to this car. It means the car was totaled in an accident, then rebuilt, and the title was "branded" back to used car status again.

I'm on my way back in the form of a mustang bro. I prefer the '99-'04 GT.Best looking of them all IMO. The pefect scenario for me is just the rolling chassis. Only because I wanna slide a carb'd 347ci. in it. Paxton also makes a really nice blower for carbs. That would make for a really strong street-car. :nana2 :burnout: I have an article where they got close to 600 ponies from that combo. Good luck on your search homie, there are a bunch of them out there. Holla
BTW, You can pay for a title history on the car ONLY after you are 100% sure you gotta have it. CARFAX.com :tu:

Salvage title was issued sometime in December of 04.

This car has a Salvage Title not a Rebuilt Title

Salvage Title
A Salvage Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle for safe operation exceeds its fair market value; or a vehicle that has been declared a Total Loss by an insurer or other state or jurisdiction. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage but the majority use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state. The following ten States also use Salvage titles to identify stolen vehicles - AZ, FL, GA, IL, MN, NJ, NM, NY, OK and OR.

Should I steer clear of this car?

I think you should check with your insurance company also. They may not even insure it with a title like that.

Should I steer clear of this car?

Absolutely. There are too many other Mustangs out there with clear titles. If you don't know exactly what is behind the salvage title, I would go find something else.

See Adam ,
That is what I was trying to say in this thread a couple days ago.
I bought a salvaged Tauras 10 years ago and it ran good no maintenance problems for 9 years. My mom drove it for the first 8 then I got it back ,made a few repairs and drove it 6-8 months until my daughter got hold of it. I sent it to wrecker yard about 8 months ago with a seized engine and cosmetic wear (too ugly to repair) after 140,000 miles. So it all depends on damage to the car.

I'm going to go look at a few on Saturday. Yea the grey one is one of them. I also found a nice 88-89 black notch on the side of the road today and left a note on it with my number. I might not get a call on that one though. (it didn't have a for sale sign on it :evil )

I assume the insurance company bought/paid it off and sold it as salvage. I think you can get a salvage titled car recertified through the DOT. I would stop by a tax office and check the VIN with them and ask the horse so to speak. Brown title cars are worth half or less IMO..
