I just got my 04 L and was wondering which oil would be best to run it it? In my 02 L I ran 5w20 Royal Purple, but heard that Mobil 1 is even better. Just wandering what everyone thought.

Just my opinion....

I always use Mobile 1.. My family and I have allot of friends who are long time mechanics & they all say that M1 is the Purest synthetic out there :-) Great deal at Wally World too, $35 for oil, 15 point inspection & vacuum your floorboard...

I run Mobil1 in everything. Royal Purple is neat but not API certified so your warranty can be denied.

We have the German's and World War II to thank for Mobil 1, and it is really superior to petroleum based oils.

The other synthetics may be as good, but Mobil 1 was the first widely available ester and really reduces the wear in an engine!:tu:

Another Mobil1 user here. You can go to Walmart and get it in the 5 quart containers for $19.

Actually, some of the others are more synthetic than M1, like Amsoil. But M1's protection seems to be just as good. The main reason for using it is the availability factor. M1 is sold at a lot of stores and at a lot of oil change places too. Its just too darned easy to find and use. Also, it is one of the least expensive brands as well.
