I'm looking to buy a clean Mustang (preferrably LX) 5.0 with a 5 speed. I'm looking to spend roughly 4G. Any leads would be appreciated. I have already been scoping out traderonline (autotrader) and dfwstangs.net

Good luck, you are going to need it. I have started and failed this quest many times. What you will find, if you have my luck, is that any decent stang will be priced above 4k. If you DO find one especially DFWStangs you need to be ready to move with cash immediately. I found a few good deals that were posted up and gone in hours to a handful of local guys that are buying these things low and reselling them high. They move fast and they have cash on hand. Also make sure you carfax the VIN numbers as many stangs out there have been wrecked or had other unspeakable things happen to them. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

 Adam, I may be able to help you out here, no, I'm not selling mine(95 GT) but Mustangs is my first car love and the guys I deal with are my Stang Gang and Pit Crew so someone may have a heads up on something. Thats all we /they deal with.I know of a nice 91-93 Red GT for sell ,no motor/trans though. Most of us got built engines and Tremec trans. I hope you do find something and join the world of V8-Mustangs. :burnout: :bows

Thanks for looking out Derrick. I don't really want a car that I have to work on though. I'd like to be able to drive it back and forth to work so I can get a little wilder with my L.

http://www.mustangspecialist.com/Other%20Vehicles.htm

Has some listed in your price range under ready to go vehicles.

I bought an old truck from them to restore and very nice people to work with. They had a lot of mustangs there. Before I bought my resto project I was considering buying another mustang as I'd just sold mine, but for the price you want to pay there were always compromises. I could find mustangs with nice interior and exterior in bad mechanical condition and vice versa, but never the two together. For that you'd have to raise the price up to about $5000 or more.

You can also check out the austinareastangs.com for sale section.

And where were you guys a few years ago when I was trying to sell my wife's '91 GT 5.0 5spd? It was bone stock, and in perfect condition with 91K miles on it. Never wrecked, never raced, etc. Couldn't find a buyer, so I ended up trading it in on her '99 LS1 Formula.

thanks Lena. I just checked out your links. That GT looks good but I'm concerned that it shows 50+k miles but they think there are over 150+k miles. Those are good leads though and now I know of another for sale forum to check.

You have to remember ,with each passing year there are going to be fewer & fewer of these years on the road let along nice ones with low miles. Some of the older people that don't mod or race but just used it as a play thing on weekend & sunny days would be the way to go, but where you going to fine them? The ones that has a perfect condition car and know it ,know they can get more. The ones that don't ,normally trade it in for little or nothing. The dealer then wholesale it or mark the price up about $1,500 over what I know I can get one for on the street.Coupes are going to be even harder to find. The ones that haven't been turned into a race car the guy don't want to part with it ,and if he do ,you will need a wells fargo truck to haul the loot.

Adam,
Did you see that clean red LX vert in front of the house as you exited the entrance to Kennedale speedway? Looked like a fox body.

If you want I'll do a drive by tomorrow and see what he wants for it.

You may have to shop out of state a little- they're out there you just have to look. I bought my Gen I out of state -you just have to do your research and ask a lot of questions- you'll get a feel for it after to talk to several different people.

Here are a few:

that one looks clean, from the picture it looks like one that would pass my test. but looks can be decieving.the miles is low for a 13 year old car. the paint job and those mods along is worth more than that. find out how long ago did the mods take place.and if there is paperwork to back it up. check for body damage that maybe hidden under that bling-bling paint job. with 4.10 gears in a mustang you can best believe its been dragged time to time. don't mean its been dogged maybe well taken care of like my dragged raced 95 in excellent condition.if all that pass go for it. you will have a hard time betting that price even on a non-modded stock GT. IF I HADE THE CASH I'D GET IT IF YOU DIDN'T :rll:

I neee=d to ask a question since you guys are on the mustang talk. I am trying to get a 92 LX 5.0 to idle down it idles around 1300 rpm when it warms up and stays there. Have any of you guys heard of this problem. New intake gaskets, computer, TP sensor, water temp sensor and a few others. I really need to figure this out.

BTW try and find Crawfords coupe it was one nice car he had it in school might be for sale again. I had a 93 cobra and I am fairly sure the guy is going to get rid of it but its in excellent condition $$.

God I miss that car. You wont find it anywhere around here though. Last time I ran a carfax it was in Washington state. I actually have the VIN number memorized. 1FACP40E4PF180074

Well, I skipped the track day today because I was soo excited about getting my mustang. I drove all the way to Greenville to find out that the a/c doesnt work, there were roll bars in it before that were removed, the title wasn't even transferred to the guys name, the temp gauge and the speedo didn't work, all this after he told me everything worked perfect and that I wouldn't be dissapointed. Needless to say I'm dissapointed. :flaming:

Check your tp voltage. Should be .97 Volts. Pull spout connector and check base timing also...stock cam?

I'm thinking of selling my 90 lx. It has a built 302 and like 27k on the motor. I have 3 cars so it sits in the driveway for the most part. E-mail me at xtrm302@hotmail.com for mo info and pics.

Buy her a 99-00 civic and let me play with it. I can still get alot of import stuff cheep. Cheap insurance and we can make it faster than that stock gt if you want. :burnout:
