Points system-Yep effective today Texas is now a points system state, every 6 points is an additional 100 bucks on top of the fine

If this is what it takes to keep the streets safe from RICE then so be it.
It sucks that those of us with half a brain have to mind our P's&Q's more closely because those with NO brains have ruined it for all.:bs

See ya at the track! :burnout:

:Bullshit

Now about these new laws....what a bunch of crap. I agree with the street racing deal, but figure we can literally get ticketed for going one mile over or not having a front plate (none of us have to worry about that  ), which will contribute to the points. Those things will add up fast.

How about the new law where they can take your license away for transporting any volatile chemicals that COULD be abused if you are under 21? Seems like pretty vague language - lots of chemicals could be abused!

This law wont affect me of course, being 26 - but its easiest to take rights away from people who don't have a lot of them to begin with.

BTW, the comment about "keeping the streets safe from the rice"...that's all fine and good, but all it takes now is ONE cop writing you a ticket for racing, whether you did it or not, if you get convicted, good bye license! That isnt right, especially since you cant appeal traffic cases in most places these days.

You can also get ticketed if you live here and haven't registered your vehicle here ...or gotten a Texas DL...no one we know here, though...:evil

OK, if I was say 23 and driving drunk with my 12 year-old nephew and we just blew the doors off of a Camaro who lost control and seriously injured the occupants in the car and I drove back by the scene and failed to slow down for an emergency vehicle with it's lights on because I was distracted because I was watching Fast & Furious 2 on my in-dash DVD player and ran through a school zone because I didn't want the police to find out I had some methanphetamine in the trunk of the car along with other volatile organic compounds used to manufacture drugs and ran over a child boarding a school bus and caused serious injury, but the police couldn't read my license plate because I had a neon ring around it which discolored the plate enough to make it virtually unreadable, if they ever did catch me, I would really be in trouble. Is that about it? http://www.fordvschevy.com/forum/images/smilies/eyebrow.gif

Say you and Doug were feeling zesty on the way to IHOP one weekend morning. The Rila wants to breath some sweet cold 65 degree morning air. The two of you are alone on the highway as you make a quick jog. Then from nowhere Barney lights you up. Of course he stops Doug since he is behind you:rll:Now Doug gets a ticket for street racing, exhibition of speed etc.. So he hires a lawyer and fights to keep his license. Need to open a season for the liberal yankee bastards:flaming: next we'll have a state income tax, and a tax on full size trucks:Bullshit

Well You won't see me street racing. I used to go with my boyfriend and he raced his Z28. It was sucked getting chased by cops. One night we went to the street races , we got chased from one spot and went to another and we didn't realize the cop had just chased a bunch of cars off. So we got busted he took our friend to jail for an old MIP warrant and almost took my boyfriend. The cop put our names in his black book and said if he ever caught us again we would go to jail. So that was my last night of street racing. I am glad too. There are alot of idiots out there that don't know how to drive, and I dont want to go to jail.

tru dat. the main reason why I dont go is because of the way everyone darts out of there when the po-po arrive. i dont want some civic with wooden ground effects that runs 21 sec 1/4s smashing into my truck trying to escape because if he gets caught his parents will take back their car and ground him for life.

I'm thinking a good lawyer could get you out of a racing ticket. If you were back in the industrial sections and lining up with a crowd of spectators its pretty clear you are racing, but what about going at it down the highway? Prove that I was racing and not just speeding. "oh was there another guy speeding beside me? I didn't notice".

I agree, the abusable substance is really vague. So if I were under 21 I couldn't carrry any paint or solvent in my truck. It's not a law that you can't buy the stuff, walmart says you have to be 18 to buy spray paint but that's just their public service to the community but no other businesses do that. How would I get the stuff home?

Kind of off the subject, but why is possession of fireworks illegal. Here in Mansfield its not just against the law to shoot them off, it's illegal to have them. The Mansfield police will sit at the city limits and watch people buy fireworks at the stands and pull them over as soon as they try to drive back into the city limits, give them a ticket and take the fireworks they just bought.
