I switched over to Comcast Digital phone service a few months back to supposedly save some dinero.

I try to switch back to a regular phone service MCI, SBC... and told it can't happen because Comcast is not considered a telecommuncations company. Comcast's computer does not recognize signals from regualr phone companies for purpose of switching:bs

The only way to switch it to disconnect sevice with Comcast and re-establish a NEW phone number with a NEW provider:Bullshit

Arrrgghh:flaming:

If you have broadband internet you can use Telephony and cancel the comcast phone service all together.

Get a www.dialpad.com (http://www.dialpad.com) account or something similar.

Another option is Vontage, http://www.vonage.com/, $39 unlimited calls to anywhere in the US and Canada.

This is a VOIP solution. They use a Cisco ATA that has 2 connections for an analog phone. The ATA, Analog Telephony Adapter, converts from VOIP to Analog phone.

I work for Cisco and we have several people using this solution, at home, with great with great success. You do have to have a high speed connection for this!
