I was making a right turn to SB Business 121 from I-35 in Lewisville and spotted him rolling up to the intersection across the way. It was bright red (the fastest :D) and sharp-looking, until the point when I noticed the rear of the car. Sure enough it had already been equipped with the obligatory fart pipe exhaust. It definetely wasn't stock SVT equipment.

He gave me a huge grin and a thumbs-up as I rumbled by in a smoky cloud that was F1's. :burnout:

I think the SVT Focus is a disgrace :nono:, as SVT is supposed to be gas guzzling, high HP rubber burning machines, not rice-boy, fart-pipe having, low-HP cars:vomit: . It may be a neat little car, but I don't want to be stuck behind one at on-track this year! Kinda depressing the SVT decided to go rice.....

Just my opinion.

Can't blame them for following the performance market, well I can.. But, you have to admit the rice market is probably close to equal with V8 muscle in D/FW right now:eek: I think it is mainly younger drivers getting and fixing up cheaper vehicles their parents suppply or approve of for economy:rolleyes:

What sort of performance are these thigns supposed to put out ?

I hope a lot more than stock cause I dropped the L off at the dealership yesterday to get the IC recall done and they ended up keeping it overnight(long story, I was not a happy camper). I had the tough choice of either a Ford Focus or an Escort....chose the Focus...damn that thing is a slug!

I wouldn't have taken it at all but one of the Z's is getting an engine built and my finace just took the other Z into the body shop to get some paint work and a wing put on it....so I had to :(

On the pplus side it gets good gas mileage...I think I've put 75-80 miles on it and the needle barely moved. :-D

For a 4-banger the SVT Focus is supposed to put up some decent numbers (sure as hell no Lightning or Cobra, but respectable). I think the engine pumps 180HP, which amazes me coming from a 4:eek: . I still ahve to say the ricer market is where a lot of money can be made, which is why SVT went there. However, I don't know many youngsters can afford $18K for a vehicle, but I do see parents buying them. I still have to say that the rice market =:vomit: .

The SVT Focus is all about it's tech, handling and braking. It pulls .91 on the skidpad (For reference, a C5 pulls .92), has 11.8" vented brakes on the front, 11" rotors out back.

This car on an Autocross track will kick ass.

Power wise, 170hp, 145ft lbs tq. 7200rpm redline. The torque, unlike other rice boxes, is 80% available by 2200rpm, unheard of for a 4 banger. The variable intake tract is resonsible for that one.

Dual-mass clutch and 6 speed twin shaft getrag to back it up.

I think it's a pretty cool little vehicle. No, it's not a lightning or Cobra in a straight line, but it'll out handle them without fail. (Lightning pulls .85g, .89g for the Cobra)

Straight line performance is definately bottom of the barrel in the SVT stable at 15.5 sec 1/4 and 6.8 sec 0-60.

The reviews have all been favorable for the car and it's clearly outshined the competition. Be proud of Ford for conquering another market segment.

If the svt focus is a ricer marketed towards kids, then who the hell is supposed to by the svt contour?

No one. They don't make em anymore. :) But what a kick ass sedan.

Personally, I love the Contour. I figure so long as it has a SVT badge, it's good by me.

It's only natural that those with the biggest sticks like to wave em around alot. :D

I'm actually seriously thinking about picking up a SVT Focus for a daily driver.
