The new Z06 arrived as a 2006 model in the third quarter of 2005. It has a 7.0 L (7,008 cc/427.6 CID) version of the small block engine codenamed LS7 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_LS_engine#LS7). Officially certified output is 505 hp (377 kW). Its performance is comparable to the Dodge Viper SRT-10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Viper). Official performance figures indicate that the Z06 can reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds from a standing start in first gear, hitting 0–100 in about 7.3–8.2, with a quarter mile time of 11.7 and a top speed of 198 mph (electronically limited). In the summer of 2005, GM and Corvette Racing driver Jan Magnussen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Magnussen) brought the new Z06 to the Nürburgring (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring) in Germany. Magnussen drove the Z06 to a time of 7:42. In their March 2007 comparison, Car and Driver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_and_Driver) selected the Corvette Z06 as the winner of their three-way comparison test of performance cars, with the Porsche 911 GT3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_911_GT3) finishing second and the Lotus Exige S (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Exige_S) third.[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvette#cite_note-8)

There wasn't. '01-'04 was the LS6. '06+ is the LS7.

$30k may seem like a lot, but that is a lot of car for $30k. Low-12s bone stock, 1g bone stock... it's probably in mint condition.

And that's a lot of car for $45k. You could probably get 'em down 2-3k off that. 4700 miles. wow.

A buddy asked me today if he should get a C5 or C6 for a toy. I said for a mod up track whore weekend rocket C5 z06, for a daily or leave it stocker toy C6 Z51. With a footnote that the 6.2 was a nice bump from the 6L...:D

c6 z51 is FUN - cooler weather = more power and less traction = more fun

Agree with most, but if your going to do it right get a 99 FRC Vette and build it, coil overs, upgraded sway bars, big brake kit.....
