I didn't see that replay in any of the College GameDay reports. I can't believe I missed it!

You would like to think the ref was just in a bad position...caught off-guard. But he sure laid the wood with that right forearm to the QB's chest!

That's not the original commercial. The original one is where two unmarked teams are playing and the ref actually takes off and sacks the QB. The only part of the above clip that is in the commercial is the very end with the ref sitting on the bench.

Now this thing may have been edited to make the ref's "interference" look worse, but from my understanding this really happened (maybe not he forearm shiver). SC ended up scoring on the drive after a few more downs.

Yeah, it's real. It looks a lot to me like the ref positioned himself to hit the qb.

I agree. He doesn't just stick out his arm in "self defense". He gets his feet set and is well-balanced to make/take a hit. If it was self defense, the QB would have run over him, not vice-versa.
