The fuel companies are screwing each and every one of us with the prices they charge on diesel. Most drivers aren't paying attention to diesel prices because they aren't putting it in their own tank. But they should be more concerned with diesel prices than they are with gas prices. We are all footing the bill for increased diesel prices in the form of higher prices on everything we buy at the store. :flaming:

If you watched O'Reilly last night.. he pegged it..said this was going to be the #1 issue in the campaign.. all others will begin to pale.. the "leadership" of this country just doesnt get it yet.. folks can not afford $4 per gallon for gas or more for diesel. Companies cant afford it either, whether it be yours, trucking, airlines, etc.. This issue is dragging down the economy.. it costs the Saudi's $2 per barrel to get the oil out.. the oil companies have a 4% margin on this.. the feds and state get 15% on taxes.. what it wrong with this picture? what happens if any of the Middle East or Venezuela go haywire? $200 per barrel and $10 per gallon for gas.. it will become a world war.. the Chinese and Indians cant afford it either.. I agree that we have to fast track some nuclear plants, some drilling offshore and ANWR, some new refineries (the latter just as an interim move to hold us over until we can move to something more long term). We could be importing ethanol from Brazil at a cheap price but Washington has huge tariffs on it so that its not feasible (wake up Washington!!) ..

ok rant off..

The problem here is people cashing in their retirement and investing it in oil. Most economist say its a "bubble" that will pop by this time next year and be back down 1.70/gallon once people run out of money and quit investing in oil driving the value up

as bad as it is, it has cost $6.00 per gallon over in Europe for years

Republicans are yelling at the democrat congress to approve drilling and other options, yet they are sitting still???

I agree with this 100%.. except not sure about $1.70.. what it might do though is create enough interest on our part to fix it here and then cut us off from having to import so much oil from the Middle East.. and that would be good.. the democrats think we can reduce our consumption enough along with bringing other energy sources on board to keep from having to drill.. those other sources take too long..

It was this much when I lived there over 5 years ago. They are paying near 10 dollars a gallon for gas now.

Did read yesterday the Saudis are having a conference with other OPEC countries to discuss the ridiculous price of oil per barrel.
You think they like it high, and they do, but they also realize we will move away from petroleum, and come up with other ways to fuel are cars and trucks, so high prices are bad for them long term as well.
Same article mentioned Saudi Arabia can increase crude output by 2,000,000 barrels per day. Once this bubble pops one analyst predicts 60.00 per barrel oil again! Dont sell your trucks into a crap market were
gas guzzlers are getting slaughtered, hold and be glad you did hopefully
sooner than later.

Well, how about making the damn speculators actually put some money in the game......the leveraging of 15-20/1 is BS. It should be 5/1 at most, that would get the average speculator out of the game.

How about putting controls in place to keep speculators from pumping their own ? The guys that own most of the futures are also the same ones that are predicting 300 a barrel oil. Then the price jumps 10 a barrel and they clean up. Should be prevented from doing that in the same way that Execs of publicly traded companies are prevented from trading and speaking during certain times

Here we go, let's just tell them we don't want there oil for a day or two and see what they do with the price of it.

It'll go up......cause they know we need it more three days from now if we don't use it for two days.

The prices you see for a barrel are for July delivery......they've not even pumped it yet......gotta love that.
