OK, I've had my Tundra for a month now and have put 2500 miles on it. Despite not being too excited about it when I purchased it I've really gotten to like it. Mileage has ranged from a low of 15.9 MPG to a high of 17.2, with most tanks running rght at 16.7 MPG. With diesel running a steady 40 cents more per gallon the Toy is costing 5 cents per mile less to operate, just in fuel costs. As much as I drive that adds up quickly. The Toy is quieter, smoother, and in general more refined. It's also MUCH better off road than the SD was, largely because it's not nearly so heavy and prone to sinking down into the muck. And, since mine is an '06, it doesn't have the new, redesigned tin foil tailgate, so I've had no issues loading the ATV. After reading the other thread I did check and my tailgate seams are fully welded. Overall, I'd have to give this thing a :tu:.

Glad to hear the report. It looks like 06 was the best year for the Tundra. They had some real growing pains with the first 2000 models brakes etc.. I have been looking hard at gas half tons and just can't find one to love. As long as I have the 24ft enclosed trailer and dreams of building on my land I will need a 3/4 ton something. Depending on what job I can find I may get a lighter daily driver and let the F250 sit still.

I want a GMC Sierra with the VortecMax pkg. BUT there are some things I don't like about the GM's. Their doors close like crap and they have an IFS 4wd that chews tires. Plus it prices out over 40 grand and I can drive a crew cab F250 cheaper than that! The Chinese trucks are not tough enough for my needs at this time. None of the half tons fit an atv with the tailgate up in a short bed. My F250 will close the gate.
I want a gray xcab, imagine that..
