I have hated my stock posi unit from day one. It one wheels all the time and of course the dealer would do nothing for me. So that was a 325 dollar option was wasted... After two and a half years I saved up enough money to buy a Eaton Truetrac helical gear driven posi unit. I hope it is all I think it will be. They have performed very well in the Lightnings so far...

Very nice unit install several in customers trucks and cars lately seems the stock ford unit can't hold up to teenager abuse!!!:burnout:

570 shipped is the cheapest I found on the web. Install is usually 250. I just hate my ball sucking stock posi enough to spend more money on what should have been a posi already.....

I tested it out a little bit on the way home in some guys lawn:D j/k. I am tickled pink so far. I pulled one wheel up on the grass and gave it some gas. It just bit concrete and went. I had to power brake it to get any spin out of it. As you can see it spun both tires equally. It barely disturbed the turf. If this had been my old stock posi it would have dug a 4" deep trench in the soil and done nothing to the concrete. It was lugging and accelerating on this test run. It did not want to spin it was getting so much traction. All operation is smooth and quiet so far. I think Eaton has hit the bullseye with this all gear, no clutches to wear out diff:bows:bows.

You can still see the grass it didn't even break the surface of the soil. I really had to abuse it to get it to even do this little damage. Truetrac rocks!

I just got mine from the UPS man today for the Lightning - had that dreaded 1 wheel peel - no use trying to rebuild the trac lock only to have it go out again. This will last me the life of the truck (I hope) - got a great price from LFP.

Knock on wood, I have not had any install issues with over a dozen units. They all have dropped right in with no shimming problems. I always use new bearings and make sure you seat them on all the way. It can be very hard to get the correct bearing since most F150's have the small diff and most parts houses either give the outside bearings or a drive shaft carrier bearing. I always get them from the dealer they are about 40 bucks a pair I think... I used DuraBlend 85-140 this time. The Eaton rep recommended using conventional fluid, not synthetic. Yeah, clutched posi's suck balls.
If anyone local wants one I can do 470 for Lightnings and 570 for Super Dutys.

I'd have to check but they are 420 shipped on eBay. My price would probably be close to that.
