I am staying at a Days Inn somewhere west of Montgomery, AL. I went to high school in northern Alabama and I love this part of the country................but it is Alabama. Checked in about 9:30 and the lady told me her life story before I got my room key. Seems she thought it was Friday because her son fell down and banged his nose in to a piece of furniture. She was afraid his nose was broken, but was relieved when the doctor said it was fractured. :) Anyway, didn't have time to eat at my favorite BBQ place; Al's Den in Montgomery. Al cooks some mean BBQ. Check out this recorded message about his place. (334) 756-3336

I'm picking up Doug at the Atlanta airport and will be reporting on the event as it happens. First round qualifying for Orlando T/T will be tomorrow afternoon. I may race the company Taurus in Street Ford just for something to do. Maybe I should do a poll.

Picked Doug up at Atlanta and got to the track by 1:30. JDM was scheduled to start working on Flats Man's 4.6L STX, but they are having trouble with the existing computer. The EEC was replaced with a more familiar unit purchased in Atlanta. While Flats Man was on the EEC search mission, I was able to make a run in his truck and managed a 14.93 in 80+ degrees F.

The truck is running the new 16 inch Hoosiers and I am pretty impressed with them. Some of you guys looking for a race tire might want to take a look before you buy the MT ET Streets. Anyway, I decided to do a significant burnout and scuff them in. I'm not really sure what happened, but I basically did a one tire burnout because the Auburn Pro rearend decided to slip the left side and make the right do all the work. Not really sure what happened, but we'll see if the truck has a problem when I make round two tomorrow. JDM will be putting in 42# injectors and new plugs along with the new EEC and a reburned chip early in the morning. Who knows how things will go. I may not get another run and could be running a 14.83 dial with a truck that is capable of running 1/2 second quicker than my dial. It could get pretty interesting. Some really cool trucks will be running this weekend. My favorite is a 1960 something red F-100. Maybe some pictures tomorrow. This is the only interesting one I took today. Finished up the evening at Hooters (where else).

Doug was able to get a press pass and took some pictures from point blank range (pictures of cars that is). I saw some of them this evening and they are magazine quality. I'm running the company Taurus in Street Ford tomorrow.

L8 - My wife doesn't know about the new forum. :p Say no more.

After cutting a .522, .556, and a .509 light in qualifying, I red lighted (.441/not even close) against JDM's supercrew and was out of the Orlando round. Somebody obviously messed with the lights before eliminations. Paul Gamino was byed into the quarterfinals in his rental 4X4 F-150 because a number of the Orlando guys didn't make it to Atlanta. He is in the bottom bracket with JDM and a dually diesel so there will be a truck with a license plate in the finals. Don't think that ever happened last year.

We left before the Orlando round was completed last night so we don't know who (although I suspect I know who) won.

The Taurus ran 18.44, 18.22, and 18.02 (breakout) in Street Ford. It's been fun and Georgia has got to be second only to Texas when it comes to talent. :tu: Goin to the Waffle House and then to the track.

May I suggest you tell your driver that this year the FunFord Top Truck has gone to a 5.0 tree not the pro 4.0 tree. RED is not the right color or something:burnout: :nono:

To close out the racing portion of this thread; as it turns out, Paul Gamino won the Orlando round of Top Truck on Saturday evening. He ran one of the Trash Truck entries in the finals. Three out of four trucks in the semi finals in both the Orlando and Atlanta rounds were driven to the track. Seems the Sportsman tree has in fact leveled the playing field. I guess there is probably some folks that now think the Top Truck moniker is a joke because it was won by a 17.39 second 4X4 rental driven from Houston, but what goes around comes around. :crying: The trailered trucks have had an unfair advantage for several years IMO. There were 30 entries in the Atlanta race and probably 80-90% were streetable (licensed).

The Trash Truck that made the finals against Paul on Saturday, won the Atlanta round so he left the event in the points lead for the year.

The changes that were suppose to occur on Flats Man's truck never happened this weekend (details at the next meeting if you are interested) so we were left with a 14.54 dial to run in the heat of the day and only managed a 14.97 in the first round. Easy win for the Nitrous Express sponsored truck, but it was still fun.

To those who think we did nothing but goof off all weekend, you are absolutely right. :tu:
