I need to arrange shipping for a tranny from Alabama to Fort Worth TX but FedEX quoted me $800. Does anyone know a cheaper way of shipping?

Call truck freight people. There are about 15 of them in the DFW area that'll do it in the $2xx range.

Yellow freight, How much does it weigh? I shipped a 135lb jet ski motor from ft. worth to NC for about 150.00

Yep, all the guy has to do is crate it up and drop it off, you pay when you pick it up.

I think the MOnster Boxes were like $180 or so to ship in the cool little containers.

I picked my Monster Box up from Yellow Freight off of Loop-12/408...I should have left it there and saved my 2k :rolleyes:

I shipped a tranny to California via Yellow Freight. Did it just like Wes was saying. I took it to them. I had mine on a pallet. Strap it down good or it will come loose during shipping. I paid about 180 to California 3 years ago. It is probably more now, but it won't be more than 250 or so.

Man, bad timing, I go to Tuscaloosa & Birmingham,Alabama area all the time to visit my family. that zip is close by that area somewhere, maybe a speed shop.
