Some excerpts from the 08 talk.

on the particulate filter my fleet guy attended a meeting and said replacement was about $2500....he also said that they recommend that you let the truck warm up about 5 minutes to get the filter hot and to let it idle down about the same time to let it cool off a little bit...
Last I heard, the particulate trap is supposed to be cleaned at 60,000 miles, and replaced at 120k.
Double that. Clean at 120k, replace at 250.
exhaust gas leaves turbo to downpipe, into the oxidation catalyst. After the cat, it enters the dpf (diesel particulate filter), which removes soot from exhaust and traps it in this filter, from here, exhaust exits through resonator/tailpipe assembly. When dpf pressure rises due to excessive soot build-up, ecm will start regeneration process which will burn soot and extemely hot temps. This turns soot into ash and opens up the dpf. When dpf has excessive ash content, it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
yep and the DPF burn off process is the reason for the dual pipes at the rear. It seems that as it burns off the exhaust can reach 1200 degrees F and was burning the paint on them poor little cars next to it so they added a fresh air inlet that backflows and mixes with the exhaust to cool it down. Talk about your afterburner.
Don't ever go off road in dry grass or you could be responsible for a grass/and/or/forest fire and that could cost you millions.

630 ft lbs of torque... not too shabby...

but that 5 min warm up and cool down is a bummer.. is it that way on all diesels?

There is a lot of specutalion on the new trucks. If it were necessary the dealer would include a turbo timer or interlock on the truck. Here is more good reading. It looks like they decided on two turbos instead of one with two exhaust wheels. The down side is the cab has to come off to do anything other than maint..
