Wow Dennis! That is what I should have done for a block in the first place! You will be real happy with that bad boy!!

Sweet, looks like good blower pistons, but just 2 bolt mains?
Even the K5 has 4 bolt mains.
Were does the oil pump mount?, please pardon my ignorance on Ford blocks.

The only late-model 4-bolt main blocks Ford builds are the R-blocks. Once its all said and done (you can't buy them assembled from Ford), they are easily 2.5-3x the cost of the Sportsman blocks... which are good to 800+hp.

Oil pump mounts to one of the main caps towards the front of the motor.

Arent they beautiful when they are new!!

arent 2 bolt mains good for over 500 or 600 hp?

are you going to paint it? if so, what color?

A regular production 2-bolt 302 is good for ~450-500hp... for awhile. I made 530rwhp on a 2-bolt block for about 4 years, and lots of drag passes. That was a supercharged app which was not a high-revving engine (~5800-6000rpm), but that extra torque on the front main bearing due to the blower drive was hard on it.

An OEM production 2-bolt 351W will handle a little more power, but the mains are large diameter jobs and they typically have a hard time staying lubed/oiled, especially as the revs climb.

FRPP "Sportsman" blocks are 2-bolt blocks, but they have significantly thicker main caps/webbing than the OEM 2-bolt blocks. They are good for ~750-800hp in the real world (Ford may advertise a little less).

FRPP 4-bolt blocks (I believe they are still designated "R"-blocks) are good for 1200-1500hp easily, if not more. A lot of this will depend on how good the internals are that are used in the build.

Sixer,

Really looking good --- sof it that block will handle 800+ hp, what is a standard Lightning block rated at --- when is too much boost too much??;)

A stock OEM block and internals will not last very long over 500hp, IMHO. A built OEM block can hit 600hp. A lot of it depends on the max revs of the motor. If it's spun to 6500, it will live a much shorter life than if its kept below 6000.
