People have been mentioning it to me but I cant find any article on any ofthe TV channels websites other than one about Senior citizens buying boats on Channel 11

It was supposedly a doom and gloom story about the dangers of boatingf on memorial day on Lake lewisville. Anyone see it ??

No, but I remember that Lake Lavon in the mid 80s when it was the biker lake was the number one death lake.

There was a sign that read 98 people have died this lake, don't be 99. I think it got to 104 that summer.

I saw 3 of them on one day, when a kid killed his father, mother, and a brother when he ran a rented jet ski through the side of the family's rented boat:eek:

Interesting Stats
Seem to dispute the death lake stereotype that has been going around since Travis is so much worse

I used to go the Cedar Creek back then too.
Look at the rate 7 accidents, 3 deaths, another biker lake, but that is why we went there.

We were out by the golf course tubing with the kids & saw the Fire Dept. boat come flying by, almost dumped all on a large wake, it was being followed by a jet ski. Could not tell what was going on but there were two news choppers flying over.

I saw it on NBC Channel 5 this weekend, they talked to people who were on jet skis who were trying to avoid drunken boaters, especially the ones who hang out at this place called the Party Cove?? You wouldn't just *happen* to know anythign about that, would you??:rll:

Well since the biggest problem on the lake is rental jet ski drivers - yeah

They are the ones dieng from not wearing lifejackets - they are the ones loading 4 people on a jet ski and jumping boat wakes - both illegal.

Saw a wave runner pass within 10 feet of the back of a boat to jump its wake - If the motor on that boat had skipped a beat the wave runner would have been toast

Wow ... i was on Travis last weekend. Didn't know it had the most fatalities last year. They did a wise thing on Lake Austin ... they outlawed Jetski's for Memorial Day weekend. I'm not sure I want to go out on busy holiday weekends anymore .... the water is just so rough from all the boats and with all the idiots out it doesn't make it much fun. :hammer:

Yeah, that's why I like our private lake...... all weekend about 6 boats and jetskis on a 210 acre lake......plenty of room!:tu: The next lake west (public) had boats on top of boats....and kids jumping off the 2 lane bridge. Now that's dangerous! No room for a safe place, just a curb and railing. Cars and trucks wizzing by, boats going under the bridge..... and kids jumping in
