I got my Firestone Ride Rite kit installed this morning. This kit uses a double convoluted airbag. It looks like a well designed heavy duty kit. This kit is for 4x4 only and fits between the axle and the frame. Best of all it requires NO DRILLING! I am afraid to try out the 100psi empty. 50psi lifted the truck 2.5" and 60psi lifted it 3" above stock. I will lay out an onboard air system shortly. Now it is time to test them out!

Possibly a good application for airbags.

Looks pretty cool. Do they make an airbag kit for the front end also?

Yes they do.

I may be mistaken, their website does not list the app for the front but it may be available. They do not list the kit I have either.
I did hook up to the trailer tonight. It was empty so 20lbs lifted it up and it rode better than stock.

I added a pillar gauge and on board compressor to my airbag kit. Everything works as designed and has a custom touch to it. The two little black buttons are for adding or dumping air for the springs. I also made a little bracket for the compressor. I am going to fab a little plate for it so it stays as dry as possible.

Very clean install. :tu: Hard to tell from the pic, but I presume you replaced your twin pillar pod with a triple, and the air pressure on top?

Was kinda' thinking about the coil spring spacer to achieve a 2" front lift to level, and then air bags in the back to keep it from motorboating with a load on?????????

Let's see.......new light bar, billet grille, AFE stage 2 kit (did you notice they claim 114 ft/lbs with it?), 2" front lift, air bags in back, 20" wheels, and some agressive 33's. Methinks I'd better up the mod budget.

Sorry I didn't see your posts guys:hammer: .
Doug, I built my own system using more expensive components than necessary for most. I bought a Viair 275 compressor off eBay for $115 shipped, it is medium duty and I can use it for ATV tires etc. It fills the bag pretty quick considering its size. They sell a $79 Viair also, mine was 99 or 109. Then I bought a parking brake solenoid from a truck supply for $60 bucks. That seals the system tight and should have a good service life and it is intended for DOT transportation use. I saw a 12 volt airhorn solenoid kit on eBay for 9.95 and 15 bucks shipping but I am not sure of the quality of the solenoid. The Autometer gauge was 60 bucks I think and was not in stock anywhere it took two weeks to come from autometer direct. Then I spent another 100 bucks in DOT style fittings and connectors. $40 bucks in poly line for gauge and bags. The switches and relay wiring was another 30 bucks. The Firestone airbag control kit is only 200 bucks and comes with everything needed. I spent almost double to do it my way. We could probably mount the Firestone panel in your glovebox. It would take a lot of room though.
Brian, make sure you research and get a nice/complete leveling kit. All of them require new shocks, Rancho 9000's recommended. Most include some brake line thingy and some include steering linkage pieces. I also prefer the all spring kit. ProComp or Rancho maybe good. Some of the side guys like Trail Master and Rough Country take short cuts.
